DAY-NULM

National Urban Livelihoods Mission (NULM) was launched on 1^st April, 2014 by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation by replacing the ongoing SJSRY. It was launched with the aim of elevating the conditions of the urban poor. Major objective of NULM is to reduce poverty and vulnerability of the urban poor households by enabling them to access self-employment and skilled wage employment opportunities, resulting in an appreciable improvement in their livelihoods on a sustainable basis, through building strong grassroots level institutions of the poor.  06 Components of the programme-

MAA CANTEEN

As per the direction of State Government and SUDA, Kamarhati Municipality has launched the Scheme namely ‘MAA’ for providing cooked quality meal to the poor and needy citizen of our municipal area with the contribution of Rs.5/- by the beneficiaries since 22^nd July, 2021. Subsidy of the State Government is Rs.10/- per meal. The Maa Canteen, a food delivery system to provide food security in urban areas of the State, has become an effective mechanism in reaching to the poor and needy citizen by providing subsidized quality cooked meal for development of their nutrition. We have already covered 10,000+ beneficiaries upto September 2022. Self Help Group members  and City Livelihood Centre under NULM are operating this MAA canteen.

ROUDRABRISTI

Roudrabristi is a grocery fair price retail outlet which was inaugurated on 28/02/2020 at 3:30 p.m. Sri Jotipriyo Mallick, Hon’ble  MIC, Food & Supply Department, Sri Tapas Roy, Hon’ble  MIC, Govt. Of West Bengal, Hon’ble M.P. Sri Sougata Roy and Sri Gopal Saha, Hon’ble Chairman, Kamarhati Municipality at Satarupa Plaza, Belghoria Poura bazaar.  This is a joint initiative of Kamarhati Municipality and Food & Supply Department. Our Roudrabristi outlet is operated successfully by Self Help Group members of NULM.
